Perfect Tower Heater Fan! Lasko 755660 Oscillating Tower w Remote

Review Date: March 30, 2009
Reviewer: Theophilus DRA,
I have had all of them, mini heaters, baseboard heaters, oil heaters, radiant heaters, vortex heaters, footpad heaters and this tower heater is by far is the best. Lasko makes many different tower models, but the Lasko Tower Heater model 755660[...]. Don't make the mistake of getting any type of heater other than a tower heater and make sure it has a fan and that it osciallates. Don't be fooled by the $500 heater scams out there. They Don't save you money. They save you money on your gas bill because they use electricity.Just a cleverly worded marketing scam. But they don't save you more money than this one overall. Yes, they do have lots of references from people that have never bothered to investigate or check their heating bills before and after with other units. This unit puts the heat where you want it at sitting height. Make sure you get an osciallating unit. Again, it spreads the heat around so you don't get hot spots and cold spots. Make sure you buy a unit that has a fan and a 2 speed fan like the Lasko has is nice. Lasko has a nice handle built in at the top for easy moving. It takes a good knock without falling over. It is nice looking. It has a multifunction remote which is also very convenient. Or you can use the controls on the top of the unit. Nice looking digital display for temperature and functions. Unit is very quiet. I love this unit and I am going to buy a second one and sell my other heaters. I use this unit mostly while sitting at my desk downstairs in the basement or watching tv. Why heat the whole basement all winter, when I can fire this up and be warm in seconds? [...]Great Job Lasko! YOu can find these just about anywhere. The Lasko 5588 is also a great unit and very similar.
Good Heater Model 5588

I recently bought this heater at a local store, and am surprised to see some of the negative reviews here. We use it in a bedroom that is above a garage, and has a window that is not very well insulated, so it is a difficult room to keep warm when the weather gets cold.

When I say "cold" weather, I mean below freezing. Not Southern California (Anything below 60F 'cold') The weather outside is below 0F, so that was the primary reason we got it. To help offset the colder sub-zero air leaking into the room. Not sure we would need to run it when temps get above 20F or 30F. If you live in LA, you don't need a space heater.

This heater does a nice job keeping that room (approx 140 sq ft) warm. Haven't tried it in larger rooms, but wouldn't hesitate to do so based on it's performance so far.

It does not beep at all. Ever. Not sure what the reviewer was referring to about the beeping driving his dog crazy.

The air coming out of the unit is HOT on both the Low and High settings. Almost too hot to touch. Not luke-warm. The LOW setting simply runs the fan at a lower, quieter speed.

Even at the HIGH speed, it is not noisy enough to disturb sleep, so suffice it to say, that is definitely quiet enough. The LOW setting is barely audible.

The fan oscillates, so it does more than just warm up the space directly in front of it.

The thermostat works well. Will shut off when temp gets 2 degrees over the set temp, and will turn back on when temp gets 2 degrees below set temp.

It comes with a remote control, but haven't seen a need to use it. I suppose that could really be convenient if it gets too warm in the middle of the night you wouldn't need to get out of bed to adjust the temp, fan speed, or any other function.

Not sure what else to say, except if your particular unit isn't working right, send it back, because this is actually a really good space heater. Especially for the $50 price tag.
Th eonly brand of heater to purchase.

Lasko heaters are quality products. I have purchased 5 within the last year and a half, three for my home and two for relatives. I love their products to include three fans for summer use. Although the early tower version, approximately 3 years, was built with more weight and appears to be built to last longer. I have to wait to see. Lasko keep up the great production and this guy shall continue to support you. Thanks.
Very good product

Reviewer: Sunitha Subramoniam,
The Lasko tower heater is very good...keeps me warm.
The remote control and the high power and low power settings are useful.
Was able to reduce the home temperatures to 3 degrees below the regular setting in the evenings
