Perfect Small Room Heater!

Review Date: October 15, 2006
Reviewer: Krista Cielo-Cooney,
I bought this heater after seeing how highly rated it is- and you guys were right! This is the best little heater ever. I bought it to keep me warm in the bathroom (I have one of those awful new house designs where the master bathroom is completely open to the master bedroom.) It works great. Gets very hot or just warm thanks to the dial. The only down side is that there is no off switch- but it is just as easy to pull the cord out of the wall as it is to turn a switch off! Portable and can be taken from room to room in one hand.
Great Heater for Office or Bath Room!

Reviewer: Newportian, Newport, KY United States
I love this heater. I use it all the time at work and it keeps me warm and toasty. I love that it has a dial so that if you get too hot you can turn it down. It heats up super quick and turns itself on and off to keep the right temperature. Its nice and small and has a nice look to it too. I like it so much that I'm buying another one to keep my bathroom warm for when I take showers. Oh, and for the people that say there is no on/off switch, you just turn the dial all the way down to turn it off. The light stays on, but the heater will not come on if you have the dial all the way down. Trust me, I have it plugged in at work all the time.
Awesome little heater! Works like a charm!

This is the perfect little heater and I know space heaters as I own about 3 of them already. I use this one at work. We aren't supposted to have space heaters but it is soooo cold at work that I would be absolutely miserable without it. Because of the size, it's easy for me to keep this one out of sight. I keep it plugged in to its own surge protecting power strip so it doesn't ever disturb the other computers in the area. When I leave for the day, I can lock it up in one of my filing cabinets. I can't say enough good things about it. I love the thermostat feature, if I get too warm, it's easy to turn down. I just ordered a second one for my bathroom. If you need a tiny space heater that really warms you up, then this is the one!
Perfection

Review Date: February 8, 2006
Reviewer: Nikki Evans, Piqua, OH United States
I bought this heater for our upstairs bathroom that we really don't use except for showers and baths. We closed off the heat in that room and wanted something that would heat up fast and be able to keep us warm this winter while taking our showers. It was wonderful! It even had a frost watch feature on it so I bought one (at Wally World) for my dad who has troubles with his upstairs pipes freezing. I bought this on a Friday sale and was glad I did, but if I needed another one this is the exact one I would get - it's small but it is mighty!

Fits my needs

Review Date: December 17, 2008
Reviewer: L. Novik, Davis, CA United States
This is a great heater. I like that it creates its own airflow without a fan - the hot air just comes off the top as if there were a fan! I also love the timer function - you can set the heater to be on or off in 15 minute segments all day long. I use this feature to have it warm up my bedroom so it's warm when I arrive home from work, just before bedtime, and also to warm up the room before I wake up, without having the heater run all night (it's a powerful little thing!). The air doesn't get dried out, but it circulates and becomes toasty warm. There is also three output settings (1,2, and 3), so you can really crank it up if you need some heat quickly, but keep it low for everyday use. I'm extremely pleased with this heater.
We're so convinced, we're ordering another one!

Review Date: October 11, 2009
Reviewer: me,
Lovely design. Great heat! Easy to move from place to place. The "new" smell disappears quickly in a few hours via following the directions. (I also used a tiny bit of lavender oil on the top fins - during those hours - to mask the initial unpleasant smell. And I placed it near a window that was ajar.) We haven't used the programming so I can't comment on that (see below for update!). (There was one similar model that lacked the programming feature, but it was not sold by Amazon and required a substantial shipping fee. My advice: Always check the origin and any shipping cost! When given a choice, I prefer Amazon. Second choice is to go through Amazon, if it's not something Amazon carries.)

Back to the heater:

This heats quickly. And it's cute! Easy to store, as this model is particularly slim. I strongly recommend reading the directions so you avoid overtaxing your electric outlets or circuits. Beyond that, this thing will be your "friend" on cold mornings - as it heats up so quickly. It's like a little fireplace - except it's safe.

My vote of confidence in the heater and in Amazon service (it arrived 2 days after shipping!) is so strong we are ordering a second one. This will enable us to keep the house temperature lower and just warm the rooms we're actually occupying at any one time.

My initial order included another DiLonghi heater (HHP1500, Mica Panel Radiator), which is very attractive - looks almost like a small TV - except with wire mesh instead of a screen. The oil-filled radiator keeps its heat longer and puts out more heat. But the Mica Panel radiator is preferable if space is limited and you're looking for something to keep your feet warm while reading or watching TV; it puts out consistent, gentle heat - mostly from the front, a bit from the top - whereas the oil-filled radiator puts out a lot of heat - from the top. (Also, the mica panel one is so light, you can easily carry it from one room to another.) We're happy with both, but the oil-filled radiator is the one we decided to duplicate as, for us, it's more versatile, and can really "add" heat where you need it - thus allowing us to have the thermostat lower. (Both heaters do not use blowers, which, if you have allergies, is a big plus! That's another reason to supplement forced air central heating with these space heaters.)

We chose a slim model. So I expect the larger, heavier models would be great heat "work horses" if you're looking for something with an even greater heat output.

Update (10/12/09):

Programming function of this heater:

By accident I have now learned about the programming. It's an ingenious design, in my view. It's not via a computer, but there's dial where you set the current time (be sure to move that dial only clockwise!) and then there is a circle of tiny little red levers (like tiny hairs, except they move). And these little levers are really on/off controls. If the lever is moved to the center of the circle, then it's "on" - so if you don't need to "program" it, you simply move all the little levers toward the center and you have nice little circle of red. However, for any spans of time where you want the heater to turn itself off, you move the lever to the outer part of the circle.

Does your heater APPEAR to be "broken" because it won't turn on? Check that little red circle of levers.... in case for some reason they've been moved and the unit has turned itself off. You can easily put them back the way you want them.

Again, it's a brilliant little programming design! Very easy to understand. And it really is not subject to the kind of problems of things that you program digitally. As I said above, it's like a circle of "on/off" switches that you can control individually.

We're glad we've got the second one on the way!

NOT a family room heater.........

Review Date: January 17, 2009
Reviewer: L. WOS, Michigan USA
If you've got high ceilings or an area larger than 14x14 and expect this unit to heat, you're going to be disappointed. Also, as the previous review states, the heat rises from the top of the unit, which is about 2 1/2 feet off the ground. If you're prone to "cold feet" this unit is NOT for you.
There is no fan on this unit, so it's perfect for an office, baby's room or bedroom that always seems to be a bit chilly. If you have a large bathroom, this would be great to pre-set the attached 24 hour timer to come on an hour or so before you get up.
So if you want to heat a 12x12 or 12x14 room or smaller this unit will be fine. Just dont expect your legs and feet to be warm.
Best space heater

Best space heater! Especially when you have babies and young children. I keep one in my master suit which is about 20x16. Whole upstairs is about 61 degrees when the suit is set at 70 during winter time. I feel better that I am not heating up the whole upstairs when I only need the heat in my suit. I also keep 2 of these in my finished basement which is about 40X15. Without the heater, basement is at around 58, with it 73 when set at medium setting. My baby can touch it and get startled, but never caused any scream or crying. I feel very safe and good about this heater. VERY EASY TO FIGURE OUT THE CONTROL!....well if you are used to setting outlet timers.

21 Jan 10 Tankless Water Heaters – Some Like It Hot!

Tankless water heaters have pros and cons, like everything else. You can save an endless supply of hot water supply, and energy.

However, they are in the amount of hot water that can be produced at a time and they are limited more expensive than a conventional storage type water heater purchase.

They also make it more for you on your hot water because they do not start heating the water until you make the tap. This problem can be solvedwith demand water pump, which in combination with your tankless water heater can be obtained from less than half the time it would take the faucet running at full speed and the pump is not running water down the drain, so you do not save only time but also water.

The tankless water heater also to an increase in water wastage since you let the water run longer to have your hot water. This problem is solved, albeit with the demand pump.

Tankless WaterHeaters are available in different sizes for different applications, like a whole house tankless water heater offer, a source for a remote bathroom or hot tub, or in a boiler to hot water for heating at home.

Tankless hot water heaters are available in propane (LP), natural gas or electric models.

Tankless water heaters can be used as a booster for dishwashers, washing machines, and as a backup for solar or wood-burning stove domestic schemes.

You are entitled to acentrally, or you can use a the time of installation, depending on the amount of water needed. For example, you can use a small electric unit to use as a booster for a remote bathroom or laundry, or in the kitchen for cooking and instant coffee, etc.

Gas units with a standing (constantly burning) pilot light, however, offset some of the savings from the elimination of tank standby losses associated with the energy consumed by the pilot light is achieved.

Moreover, much of the heat produced by thePilot light of a tank-type model heats the water in the tank, heat, which lost only to the current units.

An alternative to the standing pilot light is an intermittent ignition device. This resembles the spark ignition device on some gas kitchen ranges and ovens. You should check with the manufacturer for models that have this feature.

Small units are usually installed in a closet or under a sink, and are usually due to electrical problems with the stakeholdersInstallation of a flue. If the gas appliance, a fireplace and gas pipelines must be installed, which can cost a substantial amount of money. If electric, you will probably need 220-volt supply to the place where the equipment is installed, leading some, which is expensive.

Gas-fired models are generally issued at a higher gallons per minute than electric models. The largest gas models, which provide all the needs of an entire household, are usually installed centrally. The fluerequired will be greater than that of a gas tank-type model.

As with many tank type models, even the largest whole house might not be able to sufficiently large simultaneous, multiple uses (ie, showers and laundry) supply.

Excellent heater

Reviewer: Geralyn M. Hollerman, Lafayette, LA USA
I really like this heater. Got one for Christmas, to replace my office space heater which had just burnt out;however, my office doesn't open until after New Years Day, so we used it at the house, as the weather turned cold. It worked WONDERFULLY, better than I expected! And the oscillating feature is a MUST - what I used to hate about my old heater was that it always projected heat in the same, small area and I was forever moving it around to avoid getting one spot too hot - this heater doesn't have that problem. It works great!
pretty god for it's size....

we don't need heat very often, but this is perfect for when we do. It's in a 10' x 15' room and it takes the chill off quickly and quietly. My 70 pound
dog has bumped it and did not knock it over or get burned by it.
Great Value Heater

I bought this heater because I was able to "test drive" the same product from a neighbor who moved and didn't want to move with it. I was impressed by the ability of the heater to maintain heat in my son's bedroom. I am using it to heat 2 small rooms in my home that my furnace doesn't reach. It works quite well and would recommend it to others in the market.

20 Jan 10 Pellet Vs Wood Stoves

Detached Box Wood burning stoves have come a long way in the last decade in improving its cost-effective design for more modern homes and the development of products that come to produce heat with less effort. Chopping wood is good exercise, but not every day and not for all. Of course you can also buy packaged and protocols that the threat is removed and the sweat, but not the costs.

Hardwood costs on average $ 190 per cable depending on the area of the country where you liveand is only 60 percent effective as a means of heating your home. The average family will use up to six lines in an average year with a mild winter, making the total annual cost of burning natural wood, a little over $ 1000.00. This can be cost-effective alternative to natural gas or fuel oil. It could even be a bit cheaper than pellets, but it is far less efficient and much more chaotic. This is the pellet vs wood stoves debate in a manageable perspective.

Thereare also the kinds of 'wood logs' made from natural products like coffee and other materials so that they are environmentally friendly and in some cases use of clean-burning than their counterparts in natural wood. This can be very costly. A package of six protocols over $ 26 , 00, plus tax and shipping costs if you buy them online. The cost of these types of logs rather than searching them out of the realm of most people to save money on over-all heating for their homes, but for the award of the primordial consciousnessFamily, who use their fireplace for occasional recreation.

Wood-pellet stoves are more advanced than the stoves as they are easier to temperature and the pellets are longer and burn more evenly than wood logs. The pellets are much easier to handle than crude, and are also logged to burn cleaner, produce less waste and in the mess. These are some of the reasons why many people choose pellets in the pellet vs wood stoves debate.

It is an aestheticPage for the comparison of pellets vs. wood stoves as well. If you prefer the traditional look of a fireplace, but are eliminated from the show, and the inefficiency of a regular fireplace, you can replace it with a pellet combustion unit. This wall inserts have all the efficiency and cleanliness of the free-standing pellet fireplace with the old-fashioned charm of the conventional nature of the combustion chamber.

There are different types of pellets are available, say, from all products made of wood, and somefrom other renewable energy sources such as corn. Corn pellets are rising in popularity because of the ease of filling the security of supply and are used less expensive than other types of materials to produce pellets.

The average home would need about three tons of pellets per year to supply up to 90 percent of their heating needs. The average cost for that amount of fuel for a pellet-burning fireplace is currently about 750,00 $ to over $ 3000.00 for heating oil, however, and an astronomical$ 9500.00 for gas.

The arguments about pellets vs. wood stoves and their advantages and disadvantages to keep agitating heads and no doubt, pellet stoves have many advantages in efficiency and clean, but nothing can beat the cost of wood burning stoves if you easy access to wood fires.

19 Jan 10 Troubleshooting an Electric Water Heater

I've read a lot to say do it yourself water heater tutorials and many of them from the top search pages the same. But I did not see an easy to understand tutorial does not work on the control of water heating elements, and why the water heater. While these do it yourself, what some tutorials to explain how the item that most of them say anything about the control of the thermostat and let them check valuable information.

So I will explain how "I"Go to troubleshoot water heaters and the thermostat. The first thing you need to do is to check to see if your power goes into the water heater, you can have something to do with a voltmeter, a few meters, you need the volt meter to the wires when the counter They have discussed a hot, there's constant power, when it beeps once, then not. If you're doing great. If you are not, then there is a problem in the breaker, it could have tripped, reset the switchusually solve this problem.

Now, the examination of the water heater can receive elements and the thermostat, you will need a voltmeter that has a resistance or ohms setting up. Before you start the panels and play with the power to secure the wires. I repeat: Secure the power of the kettle!. Next step is, take the two access panels, so you can equipped the thermostat and the heating element. Before you test the elements of a view of the thermostat settingto see whether the reset button is triggered. If it's the little red button is appeared to be just push it back in and the problem should be solved, if it does not let us on the examination of the elements.

Keep your meter to confirm Now the lines again, that the device is switched off! Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws or bolts into one of the cables on the item, it does not matter which wire loose touch it simply does not have anything on the item. Now select your voltmeter to ohms,if the voltmeter is OHMS 1 sentence should read it. A set screw and keep it there, the spacecraft to the other screw, when showing the 1-meter. (open), then good, if there were something like .003, 006 or "0 provides:" (closed), they eventually read 0, it is a bad elements and must be replaced. Then you will do the same to the other element.

The procedure is the same with the water heater thermostat, but it has more ports and wires then the element is not. Remove a wire from theThermostat, again it does not matter which. Keep a probe of the ad in the first screw, then use the second probe each screw on the thermostat to check read all OHM-1 on the test. Thats it, very, very simple. If you notice, in fact, that you are a bad element or thermostat then you have to replace. For information on visiting my blog thats listed below.

I hope this article cleared on things, whether you need a new heating system or waternot. And imagine that the only time you need to replace an electric water heater, if it so old that the outside of the leaking, as the lower part. If the leak from the top you could change the supply lines or nipples, in most cases, but really makes people, the elements and the thermostat of the water heater.

17 Jan 10 Solar Pool Heaters – Which is Best?

As we all know, Las Vegas is hot. Not only the weather, but the atmosphere and everything is hot. Now the weather, what to us, because we are talking here about Solar Pool Heaters Las Vegas is concentrated. This is an excellent climate, a solar heating system in use, and you do not need any other kind at all. Las Vegas does not see the snow and the off-season is the off-season, because it is too hot, not because it is too cold.

They have a number of options with a solar poolHeating. You can build an even, not very difficult, or you can buy that is already done for you, too. You are not too expensive and as long as you have a roof of some sort, make it for you in a position to mount your pool all year round in Las Vegas on with absolutely no problems with heat. Here's how it works.

The solar heating is basically going to a coil of many small tubes that are black. The water from the pool is slowly pumped out of the pool will be through this coils andback into the pool. While these black coils, the crackling and the sun will heat the water to a higher temperature, so that when it goes back into the pool it will float a warmer kind of water to enjoy.

This is a much better alternative than an electric or gas powered pool heater for a number of reasons.

First, the solar heater is not working, you raise your energy costs.

Second, the solar heater has had little attention. You may have to replacethe pump every few years, but only about $ 75. Compare that with the maintenance, if your electric or gas heating system failed and save a bundle.

14 Jan 10 Infrared Heater – Save on Your Energy Bill

You will need an additional heater to supplement the central heating? Sometimes it is simply not sensible to turn the temperature throughout the house, so you can warm up a room you are in. It's much better to use an additional heater. Infrared heating can be a big help. Find out what are the benefits of infrared emitters compared with other heaters.

Infrared heating efficiency

Most heaters work by heating the air in the room.People in the room are warmed by the air. Not only does this waste energy to the heating of the air, but also you do not feel the benefits of heating when it is turned on. It may take several minutes for a room to warm up. Infrared heaters work differently. Do not heat the air heats up, it put objects directly in the path. As a result, people in the region are not directly heated by the heater and through the air.

This principle makes infrared heaters very energyto design more efficient. Another advantage is that you are not on the heater for a half hour or hour in advance again from heat in the room. You feel the warmth immediately.

Types of infrared emitters

Here are the most popular types of infrared emitters:

– Metal-sheathed tubular heating elements

– Quartz tube

– Crystal Lamps

– Gas-fired catalytic

– Flat-faced panels

– Ceramic heating elements

Often people are concerned that infrared heaters are not safe. There's really no reason for concern. Most modern infrared heaters have a protective covering to cover the radiator. The lid is usually made of metal such as aluminum, brass, copper, iron or steel. Blowing curtains will not become a fire hazard with an infrared heater. Most home models are pretty sure, but of course children should not be allowed to be played, the heating device.

Another advantage is that infrared heating makes the air in the room dry. TheBasic principle of its work is very similar to the sun warms us on a sunny day.

You can find indoor infrared emitter to both outdoor and patio heaters. The source of fuel may be different to infrared heater take-off run electricity, natural gas or propane.

More tips for efficient heating

Using an additional infrared heater, you save a lot on your electricity bill. But there's more you can do. First, check for drafts, and improving insulation. InBeginning of winter, make sure that window caulking and storm windows are in good shape. You should also check thermostats and install timers for your central heating.
