Product Description

No more worrying about overheating or starting a fire, a ceramic thermal cut-off mechanism shuts the heater down if it's accidentally tipped over or covered with curtains, blankets etc. A dual heat-flow setting makes it easy to regulate. Choose the "hi" setting for 1500 watts or the "lo" setting for 750 watts. And, an adjustable thermostat helps fine-tune temperatures and conserve energy. When winter is over, the fan operates without heat for summer cooling. A built-in handle and wide solid base ensures optimal stability and convenient portability. And, this quiet operator is perfect for any room in the house. An anti-freeze setting automatically turns on the heater when the temperature reaches 44 degrees Fahrenheit. --Brian Olson

Works extremely well.

I live in a small room and when i turn up the heater, it gets pretty warm quickly. Very safe and i like the fact that it works on the floor or on the table. Not very noisy and the thermostat is working just fine for temperature control.
Easily worth the very small investment!

I purchased this through Amazon, and I am extremely happy. It is smaller than I expected, quieter than I expected, and does a better job than I expected. Very happy, and would recommend.
Why spend $40 or more when you can spend $15

This heater is just great. Although difficult to see the number settings on the thermostat dial, the heater is surprisingly powerful for something so small. We are doing work on our house and do not have good insulation right now. The furnace could only keep the house to 55 degrees, but the rooms with these had no problem at 70 or so. And they did not run continuously either. Some heaters with cheaper thermostats contstantly cycle on and off, but this one will stay off for a while and then stay on for a while, just like your whole house thermostat. The only negative is that there is no shut off switch if it falls over and I do not trust it to shut down on its own otherwise.
If you don't expect it to heat the whole house, you'll love it.

One room at a time and this is the space heater for you. I purchased two of these little fans after fighting with Vornado Heaters through two winters. While I loved the Vornado I would never purchase one again (2 of these cost a third of the price!). I don't have drafts anymore so I don't know how well it works if you have a drafty living area.

The ups: Easy to use dials. Puts out plenty of heat to take care of average sized rooms (I use one in a 15' X 10' and on in a 40' hallway). Works well with it's own climate control settings (holds the temp where you set it), but since it's not digital you have to set it the old fashion way (letting it get as hot as you want it in the room and then slowly turning it down until it clicks off). It also has plenty of length in the cord. It's quiet and it's small.

The downs: Must be unplugged to be turned off. This is very annoying to me because I don't trust them enough to leave them on when I leave the house so it feels like I am always unplugging them.

It'll be interesting to see how well they work when the temps hit the 0 mark.

31 Oct 09 Betta Fish Care – Aquarium Heaters – Do You Really Need One?

While it may be difficult to keep the water temperature in a tank, it is absolutely necessary that you have one. There are two reasons for this. Especially when your Betta also stresses will develop over a longer period of time, his immune system is compromised, and he will begin to lose its ability to fight infection and disease.

The second reason is that your Betta to live in water that is 75 to 80 degrees Celsius – and he is listless and will be usedresponded when the water is too high or too far below that temperature. This is particularly important in a large tank.

It is also very important that you maintain a fairly constant temperature in the tank your Betta fish. Your fish are not extreme temperature fluctuations. Incidentally, it's not much of a change in water temperature – only the matter of a few degrees Celsius – for your Betta to be affected – so this something you really need isto devote attention to.

The unit of measurement for aquarium heaters is in watts. When trying to decide which heating is better for you, a good basic rule is 5 watts per liter of water. Make sure that the heating of the tank fits and if there is an internal, can be installed properly.

If you are not sure and not buy the tank and heating together, take the tank with you into the store and ask the manager to help you get the rightone.

Two types of heating systems:

There are basically two types of heating systems – both internally and externally. You have to decide which one works best for you – and if you have any questions, ask your local pet store or your Betta breeder for recommendations on your established tank.

Another important thing to keep in mind is the water circulation – without proper water circulation, you will have "hot spots" and "cold spots" in the water, both ofcan be harmful to your Betta fish. Heaters cost anywhere from about $ 20 to $ 50, although, as with anything else you find on more expensive models.

Internal Tank Heating Systems:

Internal heating systems are the most common. They usually consist of a glass pipe from 4 inches (10.16 cm) long and 12 inches (30.48 cm). Some have a built-in thermostat, while others will have an external thermostat, usually outside the tank and are typically used to control severalHeating.

External Tank Heating Systems:

There are several models of external heating systems, as a model that fits under the tank and heats the water from below, or one that connects to the filter system. They are widely distributed both online and offline.

Great Heater, a little loud, but good for white noise at night. NOT like a personal hair dryer as a reviewer said :)

Review Date: January 15, 2009
Reviewer: L. Carlson, FREEZING South Dakota
I live in South Dakota, and for those of you who don't know- it can get VERY COLD here. Right now we're having a little "arctic blast" as the weather service calls it and our high temp today was -1 degrees Farenheit, with wind chills 30-40 below. We have a nice, but older 1960's home with old insulation and windows, plus hardwood floors which makes it harder to keep the rooms warm. This heater is a new model for Delonghi, so there weren't any reviews out there when I bought it so I took a chance on it, and I'm glad I did. It kicks out alot of heat, has a programmable thermostat, and has the option of oscillating which spreads the heat around quite well. As far as the loudness goes, yes it is a bit loud for some people, but certainly not even close to a hair dryer!! . But you do get used to it and its great for white noise if you need that to sleep at night. The only thing I dislike about it is that it beeps every time you change a setting, or move it, which is a little annoying. Overall I like this heater VERY much, it puts out alot more heat than our other Delonghi- the DCH1030 (smaller, non-oscillating, no remote, not programmable)- and even that one is a good heater. We use the DCH4590ER in the evenings after work in the living room while keeping the house thermostat at about 67 degrees. When its time for bed we move it to the bedroom and set the house thermostat set at 62 degrees to save on gas. In the bedroom we set the DCH4590ER's thermostat set at 67, sometimes 66 degrees, and we are very comfortable under our down comforter. We put our Delonghi oil filled heater in the living room at night for the cats. It keeps the chill off the room nicely and keeps the house heat from kicking on as often. The trick to using these heaters is to not expect them to warm up an ice cold room instantly. It won't happen. But if you just want to keep your house thermostat set lower to save on your heat bill, and use these as supplemental heat sources, they are great. I will update this when I get my next months bills and see if these electric heaters saved me any money.
Works Well For Us!

Reviewer: Phyllis Rhodes, Orlando, FL USA
I have an elderly family member with a lower-circulatory problem and limited mobility, so we needed something to heat localized areas of the house to keep her comfortable. This space heater remote controlled, adjustable thermostat filled the requirements perfectly. Unlike other reviewers, I have no problem with the fan noise -- it's a small unit and has to "blow" the air -- not terribly loud, but noticeable, definitely not a deterrent for us. The added safety feature (turns off when tipped over) works and has saved us from a couple of mishaps (inadvertent bumps with the wheelchair). It works well in relatively small spaces, heats in seconds, and has proven to be very reliable so far. I'm considering one for the home office (for use in the cooler mornings/evenings).
Great Heater

Reviewer: C. Gaydosh, CA
Great heater. It met all our requirements (small, low cost, safe, remote, thermostat, tip-over protection). It's great for getting dressed on cold mornings, just turn it on and the area right in front is warm right away. It takes a little more time ~1/2 hr to warm up our whole bedroom, but that seems to be pretty good for such a small heater. It makes a little noise (of course), but nothing we can't sleep through and it actually seems quieter than another similar heater we bought for another room. And the remote is great for turning it on and off without having to get out of the warm bed.
DeLonghi 1500 Watt Ceramic Heater

Review Date: March 10, 2009
Reviewer: Alice K. Kemp, Tuscaloosa, AL
The DeLonghi portable heater is just right for small rooms, or medium rooms that you do not want to get hot while you are sleeping. The timer and the remote control are handy so that I can turn on the heater before climbing out of bed in the AM. I set the timer so that I do not forget to turn it off, should I fall asleep. I do not experience the loudness that other writers c/o about. I also used the heater to help dry a leak after a rain in the basement. The best feature is the heater will turn off, should someone knock the heater over.
Thank you for a good product-for the price.

30 Oct 09 Comparing Gas and Electric Hot Water Heaters

Most homes today are equipped with two different types of hot water heaters: gas or electric. Which is used depends largely on the availability and price of natural gas or propane, can be the economical when compared to electricity. Recently, due to the energy crisis, many homeowners on solar hot water heaters to adjust, but overall, electric and gas water heaters remain frequent.

The difference between gas and electric water heater is the source ofEnergy. One uses a supply of natural gas or propane, which is passed directly into the apartment, or delivered by a service company, and other household electricity from the grid. The price difference between the two raw materials is usually the determining factor in deciding to use what type of hot-water heater. As they are about the same size, they are interchangeable, as a rule, where they are installed.

Homeowners are reminded that the gasand power-ups should be completed by licensed plumbers or qualified technicians only. It is always a good idea, the local building code for any installation requirements that you have to follow, are robust. This includes the right connection of the T & PR valves and relief tube, which is going through a super-heated water heater when the temperature control problems.

Both types of water heaters require only occasional maintenance work during their lifetime. Manufacturers recommend To build rinse water heaters at least once a year to remove sediment at the base of the heater. This is a simple task to fulfill and an examination of the sediments is the owner a look at the quality of water supply. One thing that gas water heaters require that electric water heater is not the occasional lighting of pilot light. This is easy, by following the instructions of the manufacturer achieved using the supplied> Heater.

Another difference between the two types of heating systems is that a gas-operated heater heats water by burning gas in an enclosed burner at the bottom. Of course, the hot exhaust gases has to be vented from the burner side of the house. This is a small part of the metal pipe to be installed only by building regulations, as well achieved.

In the end, the choice between different types of water heaters is mainly a matter of personal preference. Some homeowners do not like a flame in her house, or the thought of running out of gas and is left without hot water. On the other hand, any extended interruption of the power may leave you without hot water as well. Luckily, utility and gas service company, are proud of providing a reliable supply of energy for our homes.

If you are in the market for a new or replacement water heater, you should be comfortable with the type ofEnergy, gas or electric stove, is required. You should make sure a heating system that is sufficiently large to obtain the size of a family to fulfill. It is always a good idea to discuss your situation with an experienced sales person when considering the options. The sellers are competent and are willing to offer free advice.

With this short introduction to the difference between the two most common types of water heaters, you should be able to make their selection withTrust.

Almost Silent Radiant Heater - Perfect for Bedrooms or Quiet Spaces

Review Date: February 2, 2007
Reviewer: Michael Morgan, The Last Hometown
We've been using this panel heater in our 16' x 20' bedroom for 6 weeks to save big $$ by turning the central heating way down at night. It works very well to heat the room throughout the night and is virtually silent. There are some tiny expansion noises when it is heating up, but it has never made any noise to waken us during the night and we are light sleepers. Just need to turn it on about a half-hour before bed to warm up the room. The room stays pleasantly warm even on the 750W low power setting with the built-in temp control turned less than half-way to max. It heats without moving air around (no fans) so it takes a while to distribute the heat. Folks who want instant blowing heat may not like it but they will have to tolerate fan noise. For us, silence is golden and this heater provides silent heat which is fully adjustable. It is also light weight and moves easily by either carrying (has built-in handle) or rolling on the supplied casters.
Works well and, unlike most, it ain't ugly.

Review Date: November 27, 2007
Reviewer: Chad, Tulsa, Oklahoma
One of the most aesthetically pleasing space heaters I've ever seen. it can be sat on rollers or mounted to wall. It can keep my uninsulated 4,000 cubic foot (20' wide x 20' long x 10' high) garage at a tolerable temperature when it's 15 degrees outside.

Tip #1: As with any new space heater, it will emit an unpleasant chemical smell when first used. When it's new, I suggest you set it on high and place it in the garage or outside for 3 to 4 hours before using it inside.

Tip #2: Hot cords/plugs are usually the result of using the wrong gauge of wire in your extension cord or electrical outlets. Use at least a 14-gauge (I'd probably go with a 12-gauge) extension cord and plug it into an outlet that is wired (with 14, preferable 12, gauge wire) to at least a 15-amp circuit breaker. This will be the only thing you'll want running on that circuit breaker. If you don't do that, then don't complain about hot plugs or wires. It's not the heater's fault. It's a basic principle of electricity.

Tip #3: No, it's not going to produce as many BTUs as a propane or kerosene heater will. Electrical heaters are quite capable of producing equal BTUs, without producing carbon monoxide like gas heaters do, but they also have to make it safe to plug into a wall outlet and that means about 1500 watts max. If you have a large room you've been heating with a gas heater and you want to replace it with an electric heater, then you're going to have to get a 240v 30 Amp (or better) heater and probably have an electrician wire it in for you on a dedicated dual-pole circuit. This is a space heater, not a furnace. It's for making warm rooms warmer. Don't disparage this heater because you got the wrong tool for the job. Do your research.

Tip #4: If you want to remove the stickers from the face of the unit and the adhesive is being stubborn, then try heat. If that doesn't work, then go to an auto parts store. They sell several different adhesive removers that are safe for painted surfaces.
Great For Small Unheated Room

Review Date: November 13, 2006
Reviewer: Rae B. Faltysek, Oklahoma
I use this heater in an unheated screen porch where my dogs sleep. Storm windows keep the wind out, but It was still too cold for the dogs. This heater is great if you're concerned about "dog proofing". It was mounted to the wall and I covered the cord with wooden trim along the baseboard, preventing cord chewing. It heats the 12' by 15' room to a nice 70 degrees, even though the walls are not insulated. Oklahoma has fairly mild winters, rarely getting below 20 degrees, or so. I can't say how the heater would work in this application if you have harsh winters, but for keeping an unheated, small room warm in a mild climate, its great.
Even heat, controllable temperature

Review Date: February 8, 2007
Reviewer: J. B Kraft, Palestine, TX United States
We got to use this in an old home we had to stay in overnight where the gas furnace was out, and the house hadn't been used for months. The temperature inside the house was about 40 degrees, and we got there about 9PM. We set the heater up in the bedroom and shut off the rest of the house, and within two hours, it had the air temperature pretty comfortable and kept it that way overnight. In addition, its radiative heat is about like standing in front of a fireplace at a distance -- it really feels good. It smelled a little for the first two hours (as it says it will), but the smell was not bad and did not make us cough or our eyes water. Since then, it has been perfect. The heater is light weight and easily portable.

In fact, it's been so good that we moved it into our bathroom at home (on the wheels), and it makes us toasty warm getting out of the shower on cool winter morning. The controls are easy to use and see. It's another fine consumer product from deLonghi.

If you had a sunroom or enclosed porch where you wintered plants, the "frostproof" setting would probably be great for keeping the plants from getting to cold.

This is the best

Review Date: August 30, 2008

My house is heated by a propane fireplace. With the cost of propane rising dramatically, I bought three of these heaters last year and used them all winter. I heated my full 1200 square foot living area with those three heaters at an approximate cost of $1 per day. I can't recommend these highly enough. And if you have children or pets, they are very safe--they do get hot, but not hot enough to burn you. Plus, they are totally quiet.
I have recommended these heaters to friends and neighbors.
Very nice for secondary zone heating

Review Date: November 3, 2008
Reviewer: EMetz800, Wisconsin
As we try to turn back the temps at night, so we dont heat a 2,000 sq ft house, while we sleep under the covers...I have 2 kids which dont always stay under the covers!

So I used the typical space heaters for a while, ugly as the are, and at 750 or 1500 watts, they kept the room temps up just fine.

Along comes this wall unit, at 400 watts. It attaches to the wall, can be painted to match the room, plugs into any outlet, and one can heat a small room by itself.

While I do not recommend these for primary heating, because they take too long to warm up, I HIGHLY recommend them for seconardy zone heating for bedrooms.

Connecting two of more per room, and you probably could use them for primary heating and *could* take the place of base board heaters. But 2 or 3 panels would take up a lot of space and not look good, thus I do not recommend replacing baseboard heaters with these panels.

These are on simple switches out of the box, there is no thermostat. I have found the Lux WIN100 Smart Temp Fully Programmable Thermostat to be the ultimate solution. Set the times you want the heater on and off, set the temps you want, plug it in, then plug in the heater...and your done for the season.
compact, stable , and toasty

In a word...Hooray. Low energy consumption (400 watts), no tipping over, easy to install, nice toasty heat, this heater has many benefits. My home is heated by a centrally located fireplace (so I'm already a fan of radiant heat) and I use this heater to keep a bedroom warm. Installed this about 1 week ago and so far so good. As promised on the packaging, it really does only take 10 minutes to install.
The only downside is that the panel itself does get reasonably hot, it's true that it's safe enough that you can touch it and not get burnt, but you won't want too do that. I was going to install in a kids room, but had second thoughts after giving it a test run. Also it would have been great for the manufacturer to include information re: direct wire installation or use of a thermostat. ..but these are really minor points compared to having a great heat source that is safely out of the way, mounted to the wall, and efficient.
The economic is tough, and you wont have to break your wallet to heat up your bedroom

Like many I have a whole house force air system and it is never balance right. Adding one of these really take the edge off the cold room. I have it for a week so far, it is so awesome. I highly recommend a purchase of digital thermostat switch along with it too. I also measured the electrical consumption using killawatt device... not bad at all, it really use less than 400watt of power... So I figures 8 to 10 hours a day, it will translates 5kw per day and in NYC, the per kw cost of electricity in winter time is about 10c... so.. about 50c top every day to heat up a room...it is not bad at all.

Wonderful when used properly (e.g. at night).

Reviewer: Pawan Murthy,
After reading many of the reviews on Amazon, I purchased this delonghi heater. I can't be happier with its performance. I believe the more positive reviews are a result of using this heater as it was designed - to gradually maintain a slow heat in a small-mid sized enclosed room (say, 20x20 with 9' ceilings). If you want to quickly heat a large room with a blast of hot air, get something with a fan or turn up the thermostat.

We use this heater at night. It does such an effective job of keeping our room at a comfortable 70F (even at lower settings), that we have programmed our central heat thermostat to go down to 60F at night. Of course, the effectiveness of the heater is also dependent on how well your house is insulated.

There were some comments about the heater getting hot to the touch. Well, yes, of course it does - it's a heater! But even at it's highest setting, the metal is not sizzling. It is well insulated enough that you can touch it for a few seconds before it gets uncomfortable - plenty of time for the occasional times you may bump into it. At lower settings - this isn't even an issue.

Why an oil-filled heater? It produces a very gentle heat without drying the air like a conventional ceramic or electric heater.

Why the delonghi? Gentle heat without any sound. We purchased the Honeywell 7-Fin Oil-Filled Radiator Heater as well (they were out of stock of the delonghi), and while it heats fine, it creaks and cracks when you use it. I'm sure this is due to the metal expanding and contracting as it gets warmer and cooler. It's not a huge problem, but if you are a light sleeper, it may be an annoyance.

The only downside I can think of is the wheels. Doesn't roll well on carpet - which is fine, we don't' move it much anyway. But overall, love the delonghi. We've had it for 2 weeks now and I hope it lasts this way for several years.
No better heat than this!

I purchased two of these radiator heaters last Fall and used them all through the heating season. They are wonderful. SO much better than any blower, convection, or ceramic heaters I've had - and I've had them all. Our 152 year old house has hot water (boiler) heat so we're used to a system that doesn't blow and dry out the air but with fuel oil prices as they have been for the past few years we just can't see heating this big old house with our furnace. We have a woodstove to heat the major portion of the house but our bedroom and utility room are cold due to being away from woodstove heat and are both drafty rooms to boot. These heaters worked so well to keep those two areas perfectly comfortable without the drying effect of blower or convection heat. For years we've struggled with noisy, drying space heaters that caused much stress due to fire hazards etc. Contrary to what one review said this "Safe Heat" heater is truly safe. There are no serious fire hazard warnings on this item because it does not get hot like a convection or coil heater. In fact, you can touch the radiator itself and it would not burn skin. I wouldn't sleep with ANY other space heater on in our bedroom (which made for cold nights before we had these heaters) but this heater is perfect for just that. It is truly not a fire hazard if you set it in a place that is recommended in the book that comes with it and follow the safety instructions which mainly say not to put objects on the heater itself. The reviewer that said it took up a lot of space may have been treating this heater like the other types of heaters but it's not necessary. This heater should be treated as a "heater" for sure but it's not going to radiate the kind of heat that would set things on fire unless they were laid on top of the heater where the heat radiates up and I'm not even convinced that would set anything on fire. The footprint it takes up on the floor is very small.
It is a completely different heater from the other types of space heaters.
One reviewer said it's not "fast enough" to warm the room. This IS NOT a heater you would turn on and off whenever you walk into/out of the area you want to heat. It works with a thermostat and if left "on" at the comfort level you desire you practically never have to touch the heater again, unless the weather gets extremely cold in which case you would turn the thermostat to a higher level. We found that these heaters are very cost efficient to leave on with thermostat set to our desired warmth. It's the same principle as you use with whole house heating - you don't turn your furnace off every time you leave home, you just turn the thermostat down.
I turn them down during the day and then up at night but leave them on so that we're not "starting from scratch" to heat up the areas.
Unlike other heaters that can't be left on safely without being monitored, this heater can (and to work efficiently SHOULD) be left on because it is NOT A FIRE HAZARD and works with a thermostat. The only real fire hazard issue is that it can not be plugged into an extension cord safely and the plug itself can get hot if not in a proper outlet. In fact, if there is a fire hazard with this heater it's the cord that is the issue not the radiator itself. The cord is long enough though that it is not a problem for us to put it where we want it and plug in properly.

I just turned one of these heaters on today and I'm as happy to have it as I was all last Winter. I can't say enough good things about these heaters. They have met and exceeded all of my expectations. Even the price I paid for them was remarkably good. I paid less for one of these heaters than I did my "ceramic dish heater" that for numerous reasons I was almost never able to use. I even love that it's on wheels. Easily moveable on my utility room tile floor.
There is just nothing bad to say about this heater. Exceptional is the word for it!
Best heater around

I tried many heaters, like ceramic with fan, ceramic without fan and this one turned out to be the best. The heaters with fan make lots of noise and its difficult to sleep.
Also the ceramic heaters tend to burn oxygen in air because of very hot coil making you feel sick. On top of it, small ceramic heaters cause uneven heating making you feel even more sick.
DeLonghi EW7707CM heater has none of these problems. Because of its large size it can evenly heat the room. Its fins are not very hot so do not burn the air. We received it in 2 days. After using it in our 10x10 bedroom, we feel very cozy and we can sleep very well. Also this is very good looking heater. You can spend more money one time but you wont regret it.
Perfect for my needs

This is my 2nd Delonghi. Several months back I purchased the larger model 715T with the 24hr thermo setting. So far, very happy with performance of both.

I recently moved back to AZ. The winters are certainly not like back east or mid-west, but it is a area of higher elevation with winter nights in the 20-30s. The home is under 1000 sqf and I did not want to heat with propane at the current high price, (neighbor has filled their propane almost monthly) at about $475 per tank. My last 3 months for total heat, lighting and cooking has been $70, $105 and current bill for Feb at $77.

I use the larger DeLonghi unit in the front room-kitchen area, and the smaller unit for my PC office room. During the coldest nights I kept the larger unit on all night at low temp, then turned it up a notch or two in the morning. I'm fairly cold-blooded and prefer warmer to cold. This has kept me very comfortable. Granted, as some reviewers have said, you need to turn it up and let it get up to desired temp,(2-3 hr). This is the nature of a 'radiator' heater. But once up to temp, it will keep area 'toasty' for rest of day.

Other reviewers have noted a few problems that I have not experienced, (maybe I'm lucky or they just got a defective unit, which certainly can happen). I did not note a 'horrible' long lasting smell. With the smaller unit it did take a few hours of residue burn off, nothing horrible or irritating. The instruction manual notes all this. I was not annoyed by 'loud pops' when unit was going on or off. I did, barely hear it at times,(and I have excellent hearing). Have not had any mechanical or broken items nor leakage. Note: as a reviewer said, they got a slight 'burn' when touching, (the manual also notes as well). When on high the top of unit can get very warm to touch...but why would anyone assume less? It is a 'heater' folks. So let's consider that when using any such electrical device. Would not advise you to: let children play around it, nor do you want to curl your cat on it. But overall, by touching it you are not going to scald yourself. Smart advice: read the manual.

The larger unit I thought would be nice to have the 24 hr thermostat setting, I have only had to use it a couple of times, because after the unit gets to your desired comfort, just dial down a setting and move the thermo dial until the light comes on and it will maintain that temp. In fact, the smaller unit the 7707CM, has a '6' number setting dial that works just as good. This unit, (like the larger one) is also able to go to a 1500w setting, but I have only used it a few times on extreme cold mornings for a couple hours to warm room up a bit faster, then turn it back down to 500 or 700w setting.

So, for me, bottom line at present, I would certainly purchase another DeLonghi for my use. Very comfortable and cost effective. Open the box, remove it and 'pop' out the lock in place fold under wheels, plug it in and you are ready to heat. I felt Amazon price and fast free delivery were all pluses.

Finally!

Review Date: December 31, 2007
Reviewer: this_moment, USA
Reading the other reviews of this product I realized I had to write one of my own to help potential purchases realize they will really be missing out if they bypass this heater. This is the fourth space heater I've purchased in the last two months and finally one I can keep.

My living room has three sets of glass french doors, high ceilings, and lots of windows. It is very hard to heat it, but there is no central heating system, so I have to rely on space heaters. I tried the expensive Vornado (over $100), which didn't make a dent in the cold, the noisy Honeywell oscillator (which not only gave me a headache it was so loud, but also didn't provide quite enough heat, though it heated better than the Vornado), and the WindChaser radiant heater (which left the room freezing cold but made me sweat at the same time, extremely unpleasant). Finally I found this item.

It heats the room to the point where it actually shuts off sometimes, having reached the desired 65 degrees at night or 70 degrees in the day. The fan is as quiet as the Vornado when on high and is even quieter when on low. The quietest heater I've ever found. And as for the cord, while my oil filled heater does have a thicker cord and I do notice that this cord gets warm where that one doesn't, after 96 hours of continuous usage, it is just barely warm. Hardly anything I would worry about starting a fire, though a thicker cord would be a good investment for the manufacturer to make.

Given the natural limitations of space heaters, I think you simply can't do better than this one. If this heater doesn't work for you, then an electric space heater isn't going to do it for you and you should be looking at other heating options entirely.
How to fix this unit if it won't reset

Review Date: December 29, 2008
Reviewer: Christopher H. Wilbur, Arlington, MA USA
We own two of these towers and love them, but the older one suddenly cutting off every time after a few minutes' use. We tried the recommended reset method of unplugging and waiting fifteen minutes before restarting -- but to no effect. After trying and failing to reach Lasko's customer support, we did some Web searches and found that someone had fixed a similar problem by cleaning the vents. I inspected mine and found a thin layer of dust that appeared to be clogging the fine vent screening on the back of the unit. After simply brushing away the dust, this fine heating element is again fully functional!
Wasn't expecting how great it is!

Reviewer: Kathy J. Roberts,
We have leased a two-story townhouse. We call the upstairs the Sahara and the downstairs Antartica. Heat rises up, so no matter what temp we turned the central on, the upstairs got hot, the downstairs.... ehhh. So we got one of these for our living room and come downstairs in the morning and turn it on. It makes a major difference. We *love* it. My dad's wall heater went out so we brought him this until the new one came (2 days later) and had to fight to get it back. :) We bought him one online and it should be delivered next week. He (like us) liked the silence, the osccilation, the temp control... everything. And we're not heating just a bedroom, we're heating a big living room. It makes a world of difference. Love everything about it. Remote control way cool when you're sitting down and think ya wouldn't mind having it a tad warmer around you. I've read the other reviews, we haven't had "cord" heating troubles. Just warmth and with the osccilation, it isn't just blowing one direction, it's spreading the warmth all around.
Lasko Ceramic Tower heater

Review Date: January 29, 2008
Reviewer: sb, Delaware
I purchased this because when I researched space heaters, they say that ceramic is safer than the others. I liked the fact that you could program temperatures, that it has a timer, that it can be set to rotate, and that it has a remote control. This works very well and it is quiet too. It is not heavy at all, so you can move it where you want it.
